NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Lonnie Wilson was looking for a Voodoo church Sunday morning. He'd already been to St. Louis Cathedral and his own Baptist church, but he wasn't taking any chances.

"This season has been a miracle," said Wilson, who has been a New Orleans Saints fan for every one of their 34 frustrating years. "What ever caused it, I'm just trying to keep it going."

It may have been a miracle, it may have been some voodoo magic performed before Saturday's game by Yoruba Priestess Ava Kay Jones, to rid the Superdome of spells, or it may have been as Saints safety Darren Perry suggested, destiny, but the Saints finally logged their first-ever postseason victory. The 31-28 victory came despite a sudden collapse in the fourth quarter when New Orleans was suddenly unable to move the football or stop the Rams.

"We had some lucky breaks, but that's OK," Perry said. "The way our team works and plays, we deserve them."

After three quarters of flawless football both defensively and offensively, the Saints watched a 31-7 lead dwindle with less than 12 minutes left in thee game.

St. Louis quarterback Kurt Warner led the Rams to three touchdowns in seven minutes to chop the Saints lead to just three points.

"I was a raving maniac," Saints head coach Jim Haslett said. "Everything that could conceivably go wrong did -- onside kicks, we didn't play well on defense, we weren't covering and we weren't converting third down on offense. A good football team won't let that get away from us, when you're up by that much. We've got to make sure we adjust.

"After scoring in the first quarter, the Rams had not crossed midfield until the closing minutes of thee if that voodoo lady will make the road trips with them," Wilson said.
