TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- EBay has yanked ads that were apparently covertly scalping tickets to Sunday's sold-out playoff game between the New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings.

The online auctioneer pulled ads that blatantly scalped tickets for last Sunday's Giants game against the Philadelphia Eagles. By the end of Friday, sellers had gotten craftier and were offering free 'bonus' tickets with the purchase of Giants memorabilia.

At the request of the state Division of Consumer Affairs, eBay pulled the ads before any money changed hands. Through Friday, 182 sites auctioning 437 tickets for the game had been shut down.

Penalties for scalpers can include fines of up to $7,500 for a first offense and $15,000 per violation after that.

EBay requires ticket sellers to list the face value of their seats and a summary of New Jersey's anti-scalping law.

New Jersey law prohibits selling tickets for more than $3 or more than 20 percent above the face value, whichever is greater. Face value of two tickets for Sunday's game is $164.

At the end of the season, state officials will turn over information to the Giants, and it will be up to the team to determine what will happen to those season ticket holders who tried to sell tickets illegally.
