DeQuin Evans
Biography: Junior college transfer who posted 16/4/1.5 as a senior. Put up 38/12.5/6 as a junior and led Kentucky in tackles for loss
and sacks. Struggled with an ankle injury throughout his senior season.
Positives: "Undersized college defensive end expected to stand up and play over tackle in the NFL. Breaks down well, plays with good pad level, and rarely knocked off his feet. Fluid getting out to the sidelines in pursuit, displays good quickness, and remains disciplined with assignments. Immediately changes direction and displays good movement skills. Effectively uses his hands to protect himself and shows speed off the edge." Negatives: Controlled at the point of attack or interrupted from his angle of attack by the first block. Showed just a short burst of speed last season and does not run well in the forty. Analysis: Evans comes off a slightly disappointing season though he was rarely 100% as a senior. He proved to be a very good pass rushing prospect in 2009 and is a solid developmental linebacker for a 3-4 alignment. Projection: FA |
