PLAYERS
Biography: Junior college transfer who moved into the starting lineup on a full-time basis last season and was awarded all-conference
honors. Started five games as a junior.
Positives: Nice-sized offensive tackle whose game is on the upswing. Solid pass protector who stays square, makes good use of angles and keeps defenders in front of him. Moves relatively well on his feet, keeps his head on a swivel and controls opponents once engaged at the point of attack. Strong run blocker with the ability to move defenders off the line. Gets his hands into defenders and works them throughout the action, keeping opponents away. Negatives: Displays stiffness in his game, is somewhat inflexible and struggles to finish blocks. Lacks top footwork sliding out off the edge. Analysis: Holmes significantly improved his game and went from a non-factor to a potential late-round choice. Playing left tackle at Southern Miss, he possesses the size, body type and playing style to be used on the right side. Holmes is a solid developmental prospect who should be given consideration on a practice squad. Projection: 6th |
