Biography: Junior college transfer awarded all-conference honors last season with totals of 206 attempts/1009 yards/9 TDs on the ground and 46 receptions/514 yards/3 TDs as a receiver. Junior totals included 115/461/2 on the ground with 25/203 as a pass catcher. Suffered two knee injuries in the past. Spent almost 5 years in jail after pleading guilty to one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Will be 27 years old this summer.
Positives: Explosive athlete who displays an all-around game. Plays with good balance, body control and tough to knock off his feet. Quick-footed, bounces around defenders and creates his own yardage. Works to keep plays alive, displays a burst through the hole and has the ability to immediately get through the running lanes. Beats defenders into the open field. Sets up his blocks at the line of scrimmage or down the field and follows them. Solid receiver who presents himself as a downfield threat. Displays strong hands and the ability to pick up yardage running after the catch.
Negatives: Has an injury history and criminal background. Not a strong ballcarrier who breaks tackles and easily brought down by a single defender.
Analysis: After much upheaval in his personal life, Turner pulled it all together and was a terrific football player the past two years. He has the potential to line up in the offensive backfield as a ballcarrier or in the slot as a receiver if he passes medical exams for a franchise willing to overlook the criminal background. Worth bringing into a camp this summer to see where it goes.
