PLAYERS
Biography: Three-year starter awarded All-American and all-conference honors since his junior season. Totals last year included 106 tackles/9
interceptions/5 pass breakups after he had 68/5/5 the prior year.
Positives: Well-rounded defensive back with a complete game. Fluid, fast and plays with suddenness. Terrific run defender who fires up the field and sells out to stop ballcarriers. Quickly changes direction, displays the ability to immediately alter his angle of attack and plays with an aggressive attitude. Stays with coverage assignments, effectively reads the quarterback?s eyes and displays a nice move to the throw. Terrific range in center field with the ability to get outside the numbers and make plays. For the most part displays good instincts on the field. Negatives: Rarely used in man coverage situations last year. Despite his numbers, not a strong tackler and drags down opponents. To quick up the field on occasion and gets caught out of position. Average size/speed numbers for the next level. Analysis: Jones played tough, smart football on the small school level and was very productive. He offers starting potential at the next level if plugged into the right system and at the very least could be a special teams standout. Projection: FA |
