Biography: Concord transfer who made a major impact at California (Pa.) last season. All-American and all-conference selection after leading the team in receiving with 79 receptions/1359 yards/16 TDs.
Positives: Smooth, fluid receiver whose game is on the upswing. Plays with terrific body control, uses his frame to shield away opponents and possesses terrific eye/hand coordination. Quickly exits breaks, comes back to the ball on exit and extends to make the reception away from his frame. Looks the pass in and catches the ball with his hands. Goes over the middle and makes tough catches in a crowd. Easily adjusts to the errant throw and makes difficult receptions in contorted positions. Uses the sidelines well, shows some run after the catch the ability and always comes away with difficult grabs. Deceptively fast and can beat defenders into the open field. Terrific sense of timing.
Negatives: Not a physically strong receiver and loses out in battles. May struggles handling jams at the next level. Must do a better job picking up blocking assignments. Lacks top end speed.
Analysis: Mayo is a consistent receiver and shows the ability to come away with the reception in underneath coverage while occasionally sneaking it downfield behind the defense. He possesses natural pass catching skills and could develop into a productive fifth receiver at the next level.
