Biography: Arizona State transfer who posted 27 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks last season in his only campaign with North Alabama. Started seven games for Arizona State in 2010, posting 25/7.5/4. Had several off the field issues at Arizona State and left the program in July 2011.
Positives: Physically gifted defensive end who impacts the game when motivated. Moves well around the field, fluid changing direction and is a disruptive force who displays the ability to defeat blocks and make plays behind the line of scrimmage. Jolts blockers with violent punch, plays with good lean and looks imposing on the field. Splits double-team blocks, can bend off the edge and shows ability in pursuit. Has nice length and possesses growth potential.
Negatives: Looked sluggish, poorly conditioned and unmotivated last year. Did not play with a sense of urgency, took plays off and gave minimal effort attempting to disengage from blocks.
Analysis: Brooks entered 2011 season with high expectations from scouts yet struggled with personal issues and watched his game fall apart. He possesses the underlying ability to start in the NFL yet must quickly pull the pieces together and decide that he wants a career at the next level.
