Biography: Two-year starter awarded all-conference honors as a senior with rushing totals of 171 attempts/861 yards/2 touchdowns and receiving numbers of 31 receptions/381 yards/2 touchdowns. Also averaged 8.8 yards on 12 punt returns as a senior and 25.8 yards on four kick returns. Junior totals included 51 yards rushing with 25/216/3 receiving.

Positives: Slippery, explosive skill player who positively impacts the game from a variety of positions. Elusive, cuts back on a dime and loses no momentum changing direction. Displays a terrific burst, makes several defenders miss on a single carry and is dangerous in the open field. Bounces around piles to keep runs alive and keeps his feet moving on contact. Terrific pass catcher who displays eye/hand coordination. Gets downfield as a receiver and is a deep threat.

Negatives: Displays little in the way of strength handling the ball and can easily get brought down by the first defender. Gives marginal effort blocking and rarely gets in the way.

Analysis: Rainey can be used as a running back, slot receiver or return specialist. He's an explosive athlete who will make big plays if given even the smallest amount of open space on the field. Rainey has the potential to be a dynamic ballcarrier for a creative offensive coordinator willing to design plays for his skills.
