Biography: Two-year starter who finished with 21 receptions/264 yards/1 touchdown as a senior after posting career-best numbers of 38/570/1 as a junior.
Positives: Adequately sized receiver who battles to make the reception. Quickly releases off the line into pass routes, effectively uses his frame to shield away defenders and extends to make the reception away from his body. Displays good focus and concentration, exposes himself to the big hit and takes a pounding, but still holds onto the ball. Physical and fights defenders to come away with the reception.
Negatives: One-speed receiver who lacks a burst and shows minimal quickness running routes. Does not display naturally soft hands. Unnecessarily lets passes get inside him at times.
Analysis: Thompson was an adequate college receiver who lacks the physical skills for the next level. He could find a home as a fifth receiver, but must really make a mark on special teams this summer to get out of camp.
