PLAYERS
Biography: Full-time starter the past two seasons and awarded all-conference honors after both campaigns. Named to several All-American
teams as a senior. Receiving totals last year included 34 receptions/667 yards/10 TDs, with an average of 19.6 yards per catch.
Junior numbers included 28/434/7.
Positives: Tall, athletic tight end who consistently gets down the field to make big plays. Quickly releases off the snap into pass routes, immediately gets to top speed and easily moves about the field. Runs good pass routes, uses his hands to separate from defenders and boxes them out with his large frame. Extends his hands offering the quarterback a big target, displays outstanding concentration and consistently makes the reception away from his frame. Gets vertical over defenders or exposes himself in a crowd and comes away with the difficult grab. Smart football player who works well with the quarterback and consistently finds a way to get open. Bends his knees, breaks down well and blocks with leverage. Negatives: Possesses marginal blocking strength and rarely gets movement at the point of attack. Never had outstanding production in college. Analysis: Fleener is a natural pass catcher who's displayed a developing game the past two years. He's a big, athletic target that can make the difficult reception in underneath coverage and create mismatches down the field. Fleener should only get better as he physically matures and becomes more experienced on the field. Projection: 2-3 ![]() Jed Jacobsohn/SI
