Harrison Smith
Round 1, Pick 29
Position: S
Class:  Sr
School: Notre Dame
HT: 6'2"
WT: 214 lbs.
40 Time: 4.55
Conference: Independents (FBS)
Biography: Three-year starter who posted 90 tackles and broke up 10 passes last season. Junior totals included 93 tackles/7 interceptions/7 pass breakups.

Positives: Well-sized, downhill safety who is best between the numbers. Effectively diagnoses plays, keeps the action in front of him and aggressive. Displays an explosive burst of closing speed, quick up the field and is a big-time hitter who squares into tackles. Shows skill in zone coverage, has good hands for the interception and correctly positions himself to make plays on the ball.

Negatives: Lacks quick change-of-direction ability and lateral speed. Slow getting out to the flanks in coverage. Lacks a fluid and quick backpedal.

Analysis: Smith is an impressive looking defensive back who struggles getting outside the numbers to make plays and would be best as a traditional strong safety or in a zone system.

Projection: 2nd
