Biography: Two-year starter awarded all-conference honors since his junior season. Totals last year included 171 attempts/1071 yards/12 TDs on the ground and 31 receptions/350 yards/1 TD. Junior numbers included ground totals of 175/1098/8 with 31/372/2 receiving.
Positives: Quick, explosive skill player who is effective carrying the ball or catching it out of the backfield. Runs low to the ground, displays good vision and loses little momentum changing direction. Weaves through the traffic and picks his spots on the inside or slides off defenders to keep plays alive. Gets lost behind his lineman, makes exceptional use blocks and runs with good balance and body control. Finds the running lanes, has a burst through the hole and displays the ability to make defenders miss in the open field.
Negatives: Lacks size and ball-carrying strength and easily gets brought down at the point of attack by a single defender.
Analysis: Thomas has a terrific combination of quickness, speed and balance. He possesses the skills to be used as a third-down back at the next level and would help his cause if he contributes as a return man.
