PLAYERS
Biography: Three-year starter at left tackle awarded all-conference honors since his junior season.
Positives: Tall, strong college tackle who is best in a smaller area. Quickly sets up in pass protection, keeps his head on a swivel and effectively uses his hands to keep defenders away. Sets with a wide base, stays square and easily controls opponents at the point of attack. Strong run blocker who turns defenders off the ball. Moves relatively well for large lineman, picking up stunts or blitzes thrown by opponents. Uses effective body positioning to seal defenders from plays. Negatives: Displays stiffness in his game and struggles to adjust. Marginally quick. Lacks top footwork sliding out off the edge. Analysis: VanDerMeulen was durable on the college level as a four-year starter. He possesses next-level size, offers growth potential and will get consideration as a right tackle. Projection: FA |
