Biography: Two-year starter who posted career numbers of 60 receptions/695 yards/5 TDs as a senior after 26/385/1 the prior year.
Positives: Well-sized, athletic receiver whose game is on the upswing. Fluid releasing off the line into pass routes, comes back to the ball out of breaks and uses his frame to shield away defenders. Finds the opening in the defense and lays out to make the difficult reception. Large target who nicely makes catches in stride. Effective downfield blocker when he gives effort.
Negatives: One-speed receiver who lacks a burst. Rounds off routes and shows minimal quickness in his game. Unnecessarily lets the pass get inside him at times and drops some catchable throws. Does not always fights to come away with the tough reception.
Analysis: While Givens showed much improvement as a senior, his game still has a ways to go. He possesses the size and skill to be a fifth receiver at the next level and will be kept on a practice squad for future development if he plays well in camp this summer.
