Biography: All-American and all-conference selection last season as well as SWAC Defensive Player of the Year after posting 81 tackles/24.5 tackles for loss/22 sacks. Junior totals included 27/8/5.5. Started his college career at Texas Tech in 2007 before transferring to Dallas Community College then moving onto Prairie View.
Positives: Explosive pass rushing defensive end that turned in a record breaking campaign last year. Smooth and easily changes direction or immediately alters his angle of attack. Possesses a good closing burst, fast off the edge and shows a degree of violence in his game. Defeats blocks at the point of attack, chases the action hard and consistently found behind the opponents line of scrimmage making plays. Rarely off his feet and tough to move off the point.
Negatives: At times slow locating the ball and shows marginal instincts. Plays a bit upright and makes himself an easy target for blockers. Must develop more moves and consistently use his hands to protect himself.
Analysis: Hamilton was one of most prolific pass rushers in college football last season and took his game to another level. Still rough around the edges, he must improve his playing balance and learn the details of the game yet his pass rushing skills are enticing. Hamilton will be used as a third-down specialist at the next level out of a three-point stance or stood up over tackle.
