Biography: Full-time starter the past three seasons posting 56 tackles/7 tackles for loss/3 sacks as a senior. Junior totals included 20 tackles before his season was cut short with a knee injury seven games into the campaign. Totaled 46 tackles as a sophomore.
Positives: Large, strong interior defender who displays the ability to control the line of scrimmage. For the most part plays with good pad level, effectively uses his hands and displays power in his lower body. Easily holds the point or pushes offensive linemen off the ball. Flashes athleticism in his game, commands double-team blocks and consistently focused on by opponents. Does not give up on plays; easily defeats one-on-one blocking.
Negatives: Straight-line defender who shows marginal pass rush abilities. Haphazard in his movements and not smooth. Occasionally gets tall and lets blockers inside him.
Analysis: At the top of his game, Hamilton is a force on the interior who occupies blockers, allowing teammates to make plays on the ball. He offers next-level size and has the talent to develop into a starter but must learn to consistently play with proper mechanics.
