Biography: Two-year starter who posted 187 attempts/693 yards/5 touchdowns on the ground and 21 receptions for 164 yards as a senior. Junior totals included career-best numbers of 204/1034/11 rushing with 22/171/1 receiving. All-academic performer in college.
Positives: Creative, quick ballcarrier who consistently displays the ability to find yardage. Possesses a burst of speed and the ability to cut back against the grain. Loses little momentum changing direction. Weaves through the traffic on the inside, gets through small openings and is a quick-footed ballcarrier who bounces around defenders or piles. Adjusts off the initial hit and immediately gets back to running form. Picks his way on the inside, can string several moves together over the course of a single run and consistently runs north-south. Gives effort blocking and picks up assignments. Adequate receiver out of the backfield.
Negatives: Does not display the flat-out speed to beat defenders around the corner. Not a back who breaks tackles or picks up much yardage off initial contact.
Analysis: Poole is a versatile back with terrific size/speed, and he could fill many roles in the NFL. He'd be effective as a third-down back or situational runner and could eventually develop into a No. 1 ballcarrier for an NFL franchise.
