Biography: Three-year starter at Clemson.
Positives: Powerful small-area blocker who controls defenders at the point of attack. Quickly sets up off the snap, blocks with good lean and jolts opponents with good hand punch. Powerful, turns defenders off the point and gets movement run blocking. Keeps his feet moving throughout the action and works well with linemates. Anchors in pass protection and does not give up an inch of room.
Negatives: Gets tall as the play proceeds and doesn?t block with leverage. Stiff and struggles blocking in motion. Slow if asked to pull across the line of scrimmage. Comes with poor work ethic.
Analysis: McClain is a marginal athlete who has a nice combination of size, power and run-blocking skill. He possesses enough tools to be a starter in a ball control offense if he's willing to work hard and take his game to the next level.
