PLAYERS
Biography: Three-year starter awarded all-conference honors as a junior after posting career totals of 83 receptions/1330 yards/9 TDs.
Sophomore numbers included 35/514/4 with an average of 18.1 yards on 24 kick returns. Totaled 45/629/8 as a freshman.
Positives: Big-play receiver with a nose for the endzone. Displays tremendous overall quickness, has deceptive speed and is consistently doubled by opponents. Works his way back into the clearing to make himself an available target, uses his hands to separate from defenders and quickly transitions from making the catch to running after the reception. Displays good eye/hand coordination, adjusts to make tough catches and holds onto the ball after taking big hits. Possesses soft and strong hands with the ability to snatch the ball from the air. Runs well laterally, making the reception in stride. Shows a burst and can turn it on in a single step. Plays with terrific balance and body control. Negatives: Lazily comes off the line if he's not directly involved in the action. Not a true deep threat. Analysis: Givens was productive and reliable at Wake Forest and possesses the skills necessary to be a second or third receiver at the next level. He offers potential in a variety of offensive systems, and his value is boosted by his ability as a return man. Projection: 2nd ![]() Michael Tureski/Icon SMI
