Biography: Two-year starter at both defensive tackle and on the nose. Senior totals included 19 tackles with one tackle for loss. Had 28 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss as a junior.
Positives: Quick interior lineman who lacks size and bulk. Fires off the snap with an explosive first step, displays good hand technique protecting himself and slides off blocks laterally to fill gaps defending the run. Breaks down well, playing with good knee bend. Plays hard until the whistle blows.
Negatives: Overwhelmed by opponents or easily knocked from his angle of attack. Straight-line defender and not much of a pass rusher.
Analysis: Kirksey did a solid job the past two years at Minnesota yet will struggle to find a position in the NFL. He lacks the size to play on the inside and does not have the change-of-direction skill to get consideration as a three-technique lineman.
