Biography: Three-year starter who also saw significant action with the first team as a freshman. Set school records for career receptions and receiving yards. Senior totals included 61 receptions/761 yards/5 TDs after he posted 53/847/6 as a junior. Sophomore totals included 40/835/5 and an average of 20.9 yards per reception.
Positives: Nice-sized possession receiver with reliable hands. Has opponents playing back on their heels, sells pass routes and comes back to the ball out of breaks. Uses his frame to shield away defenders and protect the pass. Makes the difficult reception with opponents draped on him. Nicely adjusts to the errant throw or gets down to scoop up low passes. Extends his hands to offer the quarterback a nice target, displays good eye/hand coordination and makes the reception away from his frame. Solid downfield blocker. Gets vertical over opponents and pulls the ball from the air.
Negatives: Marginal skills running after the reception. One-speed receiver who's not a deep threat. Tends to float exiting breaks.
Analysis: Boykin was productive and durable on the college level, but his poor speed and marginal quickness limit his upside. He could be a possession receiver/red zone wideout at the next level.
