Biography: Played in six games last season, posting 54 attempts/273 yards/3 TDs on the ground. Started his college career at Stony Brook, where he was a freshman All-American in 2008 with rushing numbers of 140/1310/11.
Positives: Nice-sized interior running back who has a smooth style, finds the running lanes and quickly gets through them. Puts his shoulders into defenders, delivers a blow and falls forward to pick up extra yardage when tackled. Displays good quickness, shows better than average agility and patiently waits for blocks to develop. Keeps his head on a swivel blocking.
Negatives: More of a straight line runner who loses momentum when he must quickly change direction. Possesses a marginal burst. Struggled with injury and other issues the past two seasons and played in just eight total games.
Analysis: Gowins looked like an up-and-coming prospect after his freshman season yet watched his play regress ever since. He possesses the size and style to be a rotational/short-yardage runner at the next level if he gets his game back on track.
