Biography: Two-year starter awarded varying degrees of all-conference honors since his sophomore season.
Positives: Tall, quick offensive tackle who's displayed solid development the past two seasons. Possesses nice length, fluid moving on his feet and smooth sliding out in pass protection. Displays good lateral blocking range, stays square and is a solid pass protector. Keeps his head on a swivel and works well with linemates. Displays the ability to adjust and seals defenders from the action. Adequate strength run blocking.
Negatives: Does not sink his butt at the line of scrimmage and must do a better job blocking with better knee bend. A bit late getting his hands up into defenders. Bends at the waist or overextends into blocks.
Analysis: Murphy possesses the size and underlying skills to play at the next level, but he needs to improve most facets of his game. He's a solid developmental prospect who should be kept on a practice squad the next two years as he improves his fundamentals and physically matures.
