PLAYERS
Biography: Three-year starter awarded all-conference honors the past two years. Junior totals included 38 tackles/7.5 tackles for loss/4.5
sacks in seven games, when he missed five contests with a leg injury. Sophomore totals the prior year included 57/9.5/4 after
he had 52/10/1.5 as a redshirt freshman.
Positives: Explosive college pass rusher who makes plays in every direction of the field. Plays with good lean, gets leverage on opponents and rarely gets knocked off his feet. Easily changes his angle of attack, gets down the line of scrimmage to make plays and shows the ability to drop into space on zone blitzes. Works his hands throughout the action, keeps his feet moving on contact and stays with the action. Displays a good head for the ball. Instinctive, flexible and can bend off the edge. Flashes force and power in his lower body. Negatives: Possesses just an average closing burst and minimal long speed. Ineffective in pursuit. Lacks bulk and can be a liability against the run. Analysis: Jones was a terrific college pass rusher who also showed the ability to make plays in open space. He possesses upside potential and should eventually develop into a productive starting defensive end on a four-man line. Projection: 1-2 ![]() Jim Owens/Icon SMI
