Biography: Full-time starter the past three years. Played nine games as a senior and totaled 14 tackles but missed four games with an ankle injury. Junior totals included 34 tackles/6 tackles for loss/5 sacks. Had 31/6.5/4 as a sophomore.
Positives: Adequately sized defensive lineman with a nice degree of athleticism. Plays with good lean, gets leverage on defenders and works his hands throughout the action. Strong, holds his ground against blocks and tough to move off the point. Occupies blockers in the middle of the line and allows his teammates to make plays on the ball. Explosive, constantly doubled by opponents and rarely off his feet.
Negatives: Lacks great bulk on the inside. Starts off with good pad level yet gets tall as the play proceeds. Marginally explosive.
Analysis: Johnson displayed ability and development in his game yet was hampered by an ankle injury in 2011. He offers possibilities as a two gap end or interior tackle and has enough skill to backup on the NFL level.
