Biography: Full-time starter at guard as a senior after playing two games with the first team the prior season. Started at both guard and tackle as a sophomore.
Positives: Underrated college blocker with the versatility to be used at several positions. Keeps his head on a swivel, quick in all his actions and easily adjusts to oncoming defenders. Bends his knees, blocks with leverage and keeps his feet moving. Quick off the snap, immediately gets his hands into defenders and stays square. Can slide in space and also shows skill blocking in motion. Patient in pass protection, keeps his head on a swivel and seals defenders from the action.
Negatives: Does not possess a dominant lower body or get much movement run blocking. Struggled holding down a starting job at Penn State.
Analysis: Pannell has been off the scouting radar screen for a while yet has a skill set and body type to be a backup at the next level.
