NEW ORLEANS (CNN/SI) -- The New Orleans Saints won't take Marshall star
Randy Moss with the seventh pick in Saturday's NFL Draft, according to
coach Mike Ditka.
Ditka told WSCR Radio in Chicago Thursday that he
will not use the seventh pick on the wide receiver -- the potential high-risk,
high-return player in the draft.
"I'm not taking him at seven," Ditka told WSCR. "I would take
him later.'"
Many scouts believe the 6-foot-3 Moss will be a dominant receiver in
the NFL, but his off-the-field problems and poor work ethic has
scared away some teams.
In just two seasons at Marshall, Moss caught 173 passes for 3,529 yards and 54 touchdowns.
Last season, he hauled in 90 passes for 1,647 yards and won the
Biletnikoff Award as college football's top receiver. He had an NCAA record 25 touchdowns receptions last season.
St. Louis Rams coach and president Dick Vermeil removed Moss
from his draft board due to his off-the-field problems.
