Grant
Wistrom 1st round, 6th overall Defensive end,
Nebraska Comments: Undersized defensive-end type who may
be a lot like Eagles end Mike
Mamula. Wistrom really needs to be a 3-4 outside linebacker, and
despite his solid pass-rush skills, he may be a liability vs. the run ...
great effort. Robert
Holcombe 2nd round, 37th overall Running back,
Illinois Comments: Could be the best running back in this
draft class, despite four guys coming off the board before him. Excellent
inside runner who shows an extra gear in the open field. Will be penciled
in as the starter. Leonard
Little 3rd round, 65th overall Linebacker,
Tennessee Comments: Another defensive end-linebacker
tweener who slid on draft day. He has the athletic ability to get by at
outside linebacker, and could eventually earn a starting spot if he learns
how to drop from that spot ... great pass rusher. Az Hakim
4th round, 96th overall Receiver, San Diego State
Comments: Another player who's off-field problems forced
him to slip in the draft. Hakim is a big-play guy, and despite depth here
at receiver, he is too good to sit as a rookie. Roland
Williams 4th round, 97th overall Tight end,
Syracuse Comments: Seems a little high, but Rams saw
something they liked in this guy ... marginal production in passing game in
college although he split time at tight end ... good blocking skills, and
Rams are confident they can improve receiving skills ... will start as
backup but they have hopes that he can develop into potential starter.
Raymond
Priester 5th round, 129th overall Running back,
Clemson Comments: Was the featured back in college, but
may be more of a role player at the NFL level. He lacks that extra gear to
be every-down guy. Catches the ball well. May end up moving to
fullback. Glenn
Roundtree 6th round, 159th overall Guard, Clemson
Comments: Not a very pretty player, but very productive ...
big, wide-body type that has good run-block skills ... physical at point of
attack and could fill need at guard for Rams ... plays better than his
numbers ... could be nice sixth-round pick. Jason
Chorak 7th round, 236th overall Defensive end,
Washington Comments: Really fell in the draft. Another guy
who is undersized and may best fit as a 3-4 outside linebacker. Chorak is a
overachiever who may take exception to falling in the draft. Could be a
seventh-round steal.
