Duane
Starks 1st round, 10th overall Cornerback, Miami
Comments: Smallish cornerback who will be asked to step in
and start if they don't make any additions before the season starts. Has
excellent man-to-man cover skills, and height/size is only question on this
guy -- best cover cornerback in draft. Pat
Johnson 2nd round, 42nd overall Receiver, Oregon
Comments: He's not a track guy trying to play football ...
he has track speed, but also has the hands to complement it. Has as much
upside as any receiver in the draft. Martin
Chase 5th round, 124th overall Defensive tackle,
Oklahoma Comments: Was hot guy early in draft process but
cooled off ... pretty good college production and has some inside 1-gap
penetrating skills ... better pass-rusher than run defender ... size and
production make him interesting. Ryan
Sutter 5th round, 133rd overall Safety, Colorado
Comments: Nice pick in Round 5 ... very competitive guy
that puts himself good position to make plays ... only adequate athletic
ability although he has good size. Not a great open-field cover guy but is
physical vs. run and should help on special teams. Has a knack for being
around the ball and should be an upgrade. Ron
Rogers 6th round, 154th overall Linebacker, Georgia
Tech Comments: Should add some depth to an improving
linebacking corps ... another very productive player that seems to always
be around the ball ... will get a look as backup middle linebacker. May
make this team because of instincts and intensity. Not real pretty or
athletic (especially in pass coverage), but a good football player that
could help on special teams. Sammy
Williams 6th round, 164th overall Tackle, Oklahoma
Comments: Drafted primarily for depth at tackle and will
probably get look at as backup right tackle. Lacks great athletic ability
and fluidity, but has some short-area fistfight qualities ... strength is
his best asset, along with some toughness, but lack of athletic ability and
measurables may limit his progress. Cam
Quayle 7th round, 241st overall Tight end, Weber
State Comments: The last pick selected in this draft. Has
a chance to make Ravens squad as No. 3 tight end ... good short to
immediate target in passing game ... not a great blocker and not real nifty
or a deep threat, but has enough short receiving skills to possibly make
this team.
