Summary

Was semi-hot guy going into 1997 season, but has cooled off somewhat. Started career as a DL, but has been three year starter at LOT for the Terps. A lot was expected of Gilliam going into his senior year, but he is another guy with a little bit of a "under achiever" tag. He seems to be a guy that doesn't take a lot of pride in his play and he is not always in shape and doesn't play with a lot of intensity or enthusiasm. He had a marginal workout at Indy which was devastating for him because he needed to show up at the combine in good shape and reestablish himself. He does have excellent size and some natural ability going for him. He has decent movement for his size and shows some flashes in pass pro and is fairly light on his feet for a big man. He can also wall off because of his size, but he is not a naturally explosive type player. He really lacks lower body explosiveness as evidenced by his 23 1/2" vertical jump at the combine. Some NFL team will take a chance on this guy because of his size, but unless he can somehow erase the under achiever tag, he may not have a lot of success on draft day.
