| Summary
He started his career at E. Tennessee State, where he excelled in both football and track as a sprinter, but transferred to Alabama-Birmingham after his freshman year. He is a 2-year starter at DC, and finished the 1997 season with 47 tackles and 4 Int....but also won the indoor 55 meter dash in Conference USA in a 6.36 time. He posted excellent numbers at the Indy combine, although his 40 time wasn't quite as good as advertised. He is a tall and rangy corner with the ability to even add a little bulk. He has good feet and hips and has really improved in his technical m/m skills. He can turn and run with a WR, and he shows good overall range in the ability to close on the ball. He is not a real natural defender at this stage, and like a lot of inexperienced DCs, he will guess at times and get himself in poor position, however those are all correctable areas....and as he plays more tight m/m coverage, he should be fine in that area. He is adequate vs. the run, but is not a real physical player. He has a nice upside and the ability to really improve in an NFL training camp. He has better size and speed than most DCs in this draft, and because of it, he will get a longer look by most NFL teams, even if he is not ready to play immediately.
