Summary

He is one of the most productive linebackers in NCAA history, but it is somewhat surprising that he entered the draft a year early. There are no questions about Simmons abilities, as he is a dominating player that plays sideline to sideline. He has an uncanny feel for the ball, and he makes a ton of plays. All of his questions are in the size area, although he is listed at 6’1”, many experts feel that he is barely 6’ tall. Because of it, he may be projected to OLB. He is primarily an upfield run and chase type guy, and has not dropped into coverage on a regular basis, and if he is asked to do that in a defense it may take him some time to adjust.. He has excellent quickness and power for his size, and he is an absolute physical speciman at 230 lbs. He should have great individual workouts, and test well at Indy, but where he is drafted will depend on the premium that NFL teams put on size. If he stays at MLB, he will have to be in a scheme that protects him and allows him to slip blocks rather than take on big OGs or OCs...As an OLB, he will be at his best in a system where he can run, chase and rush the QB. Wherever he is drafted, this guy is a football player and is likely to have an outstanding NFL career.
