Though their offense has sputtered for most of the last two games, the Chicago Bears lead the NFC North and have a chance to win six in a row for the first time in six seasons.

The Bears look to accomplish that feat Sunday when they visit a Tennessee Titans team trying to rebound from a frustrating overtime defeat.

Even with stars Matt Forte and Brandon Marshall , Chicago (6-1) ranks 26th in total yards (319.6) and 30th in passing (195.6). Its defense is responsible for 41 of the team's 185 points.

The Bears scored their only touchdown on the first drive of a 13-7 win over Detroit on Oct. 22. They found the end zone in the first quarter last Sunday but struggled the next two before rallying from 12 down in the fourth for a 23-22 victory over lowly Carolina.

Chicago totaled 506 yards while quarterback Jay Cutler was sacked 11 times in those contests.

"I don't think you can hit the panic button offensively," Cutler said. "We just need to keep getting better. We have to keep looking at our mistakes, keep improving."

Cutler ranks 23rd with a 78.9 passer rating, but his fourth-quarter rating of 132.0 is the best in the NFL. He had 80 passing yards heading into the final period against the Panthers before he went 12 of 14 for 106 yards and a TD.

His fourth-quarter performance helped the Bears to their third five-game winning streak in as many seasons. Chicago last won six straight when it started 7-0 in 2006.

"It is about execution most of the time, but we're not going to change what we believe in or anything like that," coach Lovie Smith said. "We are going to do it better. We're not going to apologize for being 6-1."

Despite Chicago's offensive shortcomings, Marshall has 675 yards on 50 receptions - 13 more catches than any Bears receiver had all of last season.

The Bears might have a good chance for some consistent offensive success against the Titans (3-5), who rank 30th in total defense (421.2 yards per game) and 31st in scoring defense (32.1 ppg).

Chicago is giving up 14.3 points per contest, and Tim Jennings ' interception return against the Panthers accounted for the team's NFL-leading sixth defensive TD.

The Bears hold a 1 1/2-game division lead over Green Bay and Minnesota, but would like to take advantage of an inconsistent Tennessee team before a second half that features six opponents with records of .500 or better.

Chicago will try to win three straight on the road for the first time since a five-game run Oct. 10-Dec. 20, 2010. The Bears are 2-0 at Tennessee since the Titans' franchise moved from Houston.

Tennessee fell to 2-2 at home after blowing a seven-point fourth quarter lead in a 19-13 overtime loss to Indianapolis last Sunday. The Titans ran 59 offensive plays compared to 76 for the Colts, who used a 14-play, 80-yard drive to force overtime and marched another 80 on nine plays for the win.

It was a frustrating result for a club that looked to win three straight and reach .500 for the first time in 2012.

"You're 3-5, that's not good enough," coach Mike Munchak said. "Frustration, it means work your way through it, and let's find a way to turn this around and get to 5-5. Find a way to become a better player and a better team."

Munchak also has to deal with some internal squabbling.

Receiver Kenny Britt wants the Titans to throw downfield more even though they rank near the top of the league with 30 attempts of more than 20 yards. Meanwhile, tight end Jared Cook reportedly wants to be traded despite being tied for second on the team with 28 catches for 373 yards and two TDs.

At least running back Chris Johnson appears to have regained his Pro Bowl form. The 2009 offensive player of the year has rushed for 385 yards and two TDs on 58 carries in the last three games after gaining 210 on 73 rushes without a score in the first five.

Matt Hasselbeck has completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 931 yards with four TDs and two INTs while going 2-2 as a starter in place of the injured Jake Locker .

Hasselbeck has posted a 96.2 passer rating while throwing for 837 yards with six touchdowns and no picks to win two of his last three versus Chicago.

Bears force 5 turnovers, rout Titans 51-20

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Lovie Smith demanded a fast start from his Chicago Bears after a sluggish performance a week ago.

They certainly responded.

Charles Tillman forced four fumbles. Brian Urlacher scored on a 46-yard interception return. Plus, Chicago turned a blocked punt into a touchdown.

Jay Cutler threw three TD passes to Brandon Marshall just for good measure and the Bears put up their highest point total since 1980, routing the Tennessee Titans 51-20 on Sunday for their sixth straight win.

"We didn't want to have a repeat of last week against Carolina," Tillman said. "This week our whole motto was, `Let's start fast.' To create a turnover on the first play of the game was the mindset going into the game."

Tillman did just that, stripping Titans receiver Kenny Britt on Tennessee's first offensive play and proving how exceptionally dangerous these Bears are even when they don't start with the ball.

The Bears (7-1) scored a franchise-record 28 points in the first quarter. They took control by creating three turnovers in the first 13 minutes, resulting in 14 points.

Urged on by its coach, Chicago wound up with takeaways, beginning with the first Tennessee snap.

"It has to be upsetting when you know our reputation coming in," Smith said. "It's not like it's the first one we've done. Every team we've played has the mindset that this team will strip the ball. That's who we are."

Urlacher became the latest Bears defender to score on an interception return. They have done it a club record seven times - no other NFL team had returned six for TDs through the first seven games of any season.

The Bears had already topped the 50-point mark with 10 minutes still left. They posted their highest-scoring game since matching a team record in a 61-7 win over Green Bay on Dec. 7, 1980. Chicago fans took over LP Field, booing any video highlights featuring the rival Packers and frequently chanting "Let's go, Bears."

"It was weird," Cutler said of all the Bears fans. "I had to hush the crowd down in the red zone, and they got quiet really quick. We have the best fans in the world."

The Titans (3-6) lost their second straight, giving up the most points since a 59-0 loss to New England on Oct. 18, 2009. Coach Mike Munchak said they had warned the Titans all week how crucial protecting the ball would be against the Bears.

"We made it easy on the Bears to beat us," Munchak said. "But they took advantage of all the opportunities we gave them."

Tennessee's lone highlight when Chris Johnson scored on an 80-yard run in the fourth quarter. Johnson finished with 141 yards on 16 carries against the NFL's best rushing defense, with a big chunk coming when he broke out and went up the right sideline with 10:09 left in the fourth quarter.

Tillman, the NFC defensive player for October, started the Bears' first-quarter spree with the strip of Britt the Bears' 24th turnover this season. The cornerback also forced two fumbles by Johnson and later stripped tight end Jared Cook .

"He just finds a way of getting his hands on the ball, knocking the ball out and always being around the ball," Johnson said.

Cutler tossed TDs of 13, 39 and 5 yards to Marshall and finished with 229 yards passing. Cutler, who starred in Nashville in college at Vanderbilt, spent the final 10 minutes watching Jason Campbell mop up. Matt Forte ran for a TD and finished with 103 yards.

The Bears got on the board first with special teams.

Sherrick McManis ran untouched around the right edge and blocked Brett Kern 's punt, and Corey Wootton grabbed the ball and stumbled 5 yards into the end zone for a touchdown with 6:44 left in the first quarter. The Titans came back with a safety when Bears left tackle J'Marcus Webb grabbed at defensive end Kamerion Wimbley 's face in the end zone.

Otherwise, the Bears dominated. Urlacher picked off Matt Hasselbeck and stepped over the Titans quarterback on his way to the end zone two plays after Forte's TD run. Tillman forced another fumble on Tennessee's next offensive play, and Chris Conte recovered.

"We have been waiting for Brian to really step up like that," Smith said. "Outstanding job by him. Touchdown, caused fumble, recovered fumble. The defense was a frenzy out there, really taking the ball away."

Cutler capped the scoring for the first quarter with his first TD pass to Marshall and a 28-2 lead with 93 seconds still left.

Even in the blowout, the Bears showed their offense still needs some work. They outgained the Titans 358-333 despite holding the ball for 37 minutes against a Tennessee defense that came in ranked 30th in yards allowed. The Bears also settled for three field goals by Robbie Gould , the longest 39 yards.

The Titans sacked Cutler three times and force one fumble. That set up a 39-yard field goal by Rob Bironas to pull within 31-5 after three failed attempts throwing into the end zone - two nearly picked off by the Bears.

NOTES: The Bears now have won four of the past five in this series. ... The Bears topped the 24 points they scored in the first quarter Oct. 29, 2006, against San Francisco. ... Marshall finished with 122 yards receiving for his fourth game over 100 yards this season. ... Johnson tied Jim Brown for the second-most 110-yard rushing games in a player's first five seasons with 28.
