Week 15: Who clinched what Posted: Sunday December 13, 1998 11:47 PM
ATLANTA (CNN/SI) -- Seven teams could have clinched postseason berths this week, but only one did. The New York Jets became the fifth team to lock up a playoff spot when they defeated the Miami Dolphins 21-16 on Sunday night. Beyond that, the playoff picture didn't get much clearer as it moved one week closer to a finished product. Here's how things stand with two weeks remaining: Denver Broncos (13-1): Have clinched home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. Minnesota Vikings (13-1): Have clinched NFC Central title and a first-round bye. Didn't clinch home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs this week because the Cardinals won. Atlanta Falcons (12-2): Have clinched playoff berth. With win against Saints, can clinch NFC West title and a first-round bye with a 49ers loss. San Francisco 49ers (10-3): Have clinched playoff berth. Cannot clinch the right to host one playoff game in the NFC playoffs this week because the Packers won. New York Jets (10-4): Clinched playoff berth with win over Dolphins. Can clinch division title with win against Bills next week. Jacksonville Jaguars (10-4): Can clinch playoff berth and AFC Central title with win next week at Vikings. Green Bay Packers (9-5): Didn't clinch playoff berth this week because the Bucs and Cardinals won. Can clinch playoff berth next week with win against Oilers. Buffalo Bills (9-5): Didn't clinch playoff berth this week because the Oilers won. Can clinch a playoff berth with a win against the Jets next week. Miami Dolphins (9-5): Loss to Jets puts them behind the Bills because Buffalo has a better AFC record. Dallas Cowboys (8-6): Lost to Chiefs; can clinch playoff berth and NFC East title next week with win against Eagles. New England Patriots (8-6): Can clinch playoff berth next week with a win and an Oilers loss.
