Rams sign Packers guard Timmerman

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Rams signed guard Adam Timmerman to a five-year contract Sunday night.

Timmerman, an unrestricted free agent who left the Green Bay Packers, was one of the top available free agent offensive lineman.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Timmerman played right guard for the Packers but is expected to move to the left side alongside Orlando Pace, the No. 1 pick of the 1997 draft.

Timmerman, 27, was a seventh round draft pick from South Dakota State in 1995. He has started every game for the Packers over the last three seasons.
