Warrant issued Ex-NFL star Golic wanted on child support chargesPosted: Saturday March 27, 1999 06:19 PM
PAINESVILLE, Ohio (AP) -- Former Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Raiders defensive tackle Bob Golic has been accused of not paying child support. An arrest warrant issued Wednesday by Lake County Domestic Relations Court accuses Golic of failing to pay an unspecified amount of child support for his 9-year-old daughter, Jenna, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported Saturday. Golic, 41, was ordered to pay $700 a month following his October 1994 divorce from his wife, Jacquelyn. His payments were increased to $1,499 a month in October 1997. Golic couldn't be reached for comment. A telephone listing in his name in Manhattan Beach, Calif., is unpublished. Lake County Sheriff Daniel Dunlap said the warrant allows deputies to arrest Golic in Ohio, but is not effective out of state. Dunlap said he talked to Golic Friday. "He was not aware the warrant had been issued," Dunlap said. "I told him he ought to call his attorney and take care of this." Golic played for the Browns from 1982 to 1988 and then played for the Raiders before retiring in 1993. He has since acted in several movies and television shows and has been a television commentator for football games. Painesville is about 30 miles northeast of Cleveland.
