Staffing up Packers' Sherman names Donatell, Rossley coordinatorsPosted: Wednesday January 26, 2000 05:33 PM
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay Packers head coach Mike Sherman hired Ed Donatell as defensive coordinator on Wednesday and Tom Rossley as offensive coordinator. Rossley, 53, is former quarterbacks coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. Donatell, 42, spent the past five years as defensive backs coach of the Denver Broncos. "I'm excited to join an organization with such a rich history and a commitment to winning," Donatell said. "I'm also looking forward to broadening my responsibilities as a defensive coordinator." Sherman and Rossley coached together at Holy Cross in 1986 and 1987. Before joining the Broncos, Donatell was a defensive assistant with the New York Jets. "Ed's done a great job with the Broncos, coaching the secondary, and he deserves the chance to be a defensive coordinator in the National Football League," Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said. Former Packers offensive coordinator Sherman Lewis and former defensive coordinator Emmitt Thomas were hired earlier this week by Minnesota Vikings.
