Texas trouble Packers rookie DB Artmore arrested on drug chargesPosted: Friday February 11, 2000 08:14 PM
CAMERON, Texas (AP) -- Green Bay Packer rookie defensive back Rodney Artmore was free on $10,000 bond Friday, one day after he was arrested in rural Texas on marijuana possession charges. Officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety pulled over Artmore and two other men late Thursday in a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am rental car for speeding, DPS spokeswoman Tela Mange said. During the stop, Mange said one of the troopers found a 7 1/2-ounce bag of marijuana on the roadside. Artmore, who played college football at Baylor University, was arrested along with Patrick A. Boxley of Hearne and Timothy W. Tindle of Bryan and charged with possession of marijuana. "They saw that he was speeding and pulled him over. I guess they saw something going out the window," Mange said. Police also confiscated $1,336 they found on the men, Mange said. Officials said it was uncertain who was driving. The three were taken to the Milam County Jail Thursday evening and released Friday after posting posting bond, Milam County Sheriff Charlie West said. Cameron is about 60 miles northeast of Austin. West said the men, if convicted on the state jail felony charge, face between 180 days and two years and a $10,000 fine. Artmore, 26, had seven tackles in his first season with the Packers.
