Request denied Limo passengers' immunity motion declinedPosted: Thursday May 04, 2000 06:56 PM
ATLANTA (AP) -- A Fulton County judge has denied a defense request for immunity for two limousine passengers in the Buckhead stabbing case involving Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis. Superior Court Judge Alice D. Bonner refused Wednesday to grant immunity to Kwame King and Carlos Stafford. The request was made by Bruce Harvey, attorney for defendant Reginald Oakley. Oakley, Lewis and Joseph Sweeting are charged in the Jan. 31 stabbing deaths of two Decatur men. King and Stafford have not spoken with police or defense teams. The men have retained lawyers. In her ruling, Bonner said Harvey should subpoena King and Stafford to testify at the trial, which is scheduled to begin May 15. If the men then refuse to testify on the grounds it may incriminate them, Bonner said she would reconsider the issue.
