VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- St. Louis Rams defensive back Dre' Bly denied being the person who claimed to be Bly after being stopped twice by police in the past week, once for reckless driving and once for destruction of city property.

A man who identified himself to police as Bly, a native of neighboring Chesapeake, was charged Tuesday with reckless driving after an officer stopped him doing 105 mph on Interstate 264, police said. On Saturday, a man who said he was Bly was charged with destruction of city property after pulling a branch off a tree, police said.

Police spokesman Mike Carey said Wednesday if the man charged wasn't Bly, then Bly should report his identification stolen. Carey said the man stopped Tuesday in a 1999 Corvette clocked at 105 mph gave his address as the home of Bly's parents and produced a license bearing Bly's name and a picture matching the driver.

Bly, whose name is Donald A. Bly II, 23, was issued a summons to appear in court Aug. 8, Carey said. If convicted, Bly could be fined and possibly sentenced to jail on the driving offense.

Carey said an Aug. 9 court date was set for the city code violation involving the tree, which was planted near the oceanfront as part of a beautification project. The man did not have an ID but told the officer he was Bly and showed the officer his Super Bowl ring, Carey said.

The Rams, who drafted Bly in April 1999 and signed him to a four-year, $2.4 million contract, won the Super Bowl in January.
