Tough break Steelers lose reserve running back Wright for the season
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Destry Wright will likely miss the season after breaking his right leg and dislocating his ankle in Sunday night's preseason game at Dallas. Wright, who was pressing second-year pro Amos Zereoue for a roster spot, was running around left end in the fourth quarter when his right knee bent backward as he was tackled. Wright was in contention to be the the third running back behind Jerome Bettis and Richard Huntley. He is expected to be placed on the injured reserve list Tuesday. "It's pretty bad, unfortunately," coach Bill Cowher said. "He was a great kid. He was working his tail off." Wright was an undrafted free agent who set Jackson State's career rushing record of 4,020 yards in three seasons. He ran for 1,614 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
