LATROBE, Pa. -- The Pittsburgh Steelers became the third NFL team to reach an agreement with their first-round draft pick Saturday when Texas defensive tackle Casey Hampton accepted a five-year deal.
Terms were not disclosed, but Steelers head coach Bill Cowher said Hampton will sign Saturday night and report to Pittsburgh's training camp Sunday in time for a 4 p.m. practice.
Hampton is considered a likely starter for the Steelers, but for the time being will work behind nose tackle Kendrick Clancy, Cowher said.
Atlanta and Oakland are the only other teams that have secured their first-round picks. Hampton was the 19th selection overall and his signing gives the Steelers their full 84-man contingent in camp.
