Baltimore Ravens at New York Giants
Super Bowl Preview - The Heat is On

January 28, 2001
by: Sportvision

New York, like every team, wants to force the offense into long-yardage situations; it makes them predictable. In passing situations, look for New York to blitz Ravens QB Trent Dilfer. The Giants like to bring safety Shaun Williams and linebacker Jessie Armstead from the edge. Facing the Giants' pressure, Baltimore will be hard pressed to keep the chains moving. On the contrary, expect some turnovers when it's third-and-long.

Coaching Points:

  • The Ravens spread the field in passing situations; New York counters by rushing Williams (36) and Armstead (98) from the outside.
  • DE Cedric Jones (94) slants inside, giving Armstead and Williams room outside, where Jamal Lewis (31) has to choose which one to block.
