MIAMI (Ticker) -- The
Miami Dolphins
are the NFL's lone remaining winless team heading into Sunday's meeting against the St. Louis Rams at Pro Player Stadium.
"If you had told me we would be 0-6 right now, I wouldn't have believed that," Dolphins tight end
Randy McMichael
said.
While the defense has played well, the offense has been the major reason why the Dolphins are looking to avoid their longest losing streak since an eight-game slide in 1967.
With a rebuilt offensive line and without any consistency at quarterback, the Dolphins are averaging a laughable 9.2 points per game. They have yet to score more than 13 points in a game this season.
Last week, the Dolphins managed just 212 total yards in a 20-13 loss at Buffalo.
Sammy Morris
was one of the few bright spots as he carried 18 times for a career-high 91 yards.
Facing a Rams team that features plenty of offensive firepower, the Dolphins will be banking another big performance from their defense which ranks third in the league, allowing 257.8 yards per game.
Dolphin cornerbacks
Patrick Surtain
and
Sam Madison
match up against
Isaac Bruce
and
Torry Holt
.
After a 1-2 start, the Rams' offense has been rolling during a three-game winning streak, averaging 28.3 points.
Marc Bulger
threw touchdown passes of 52 and 36 yards to Holt and strong safety
Adam Archuleta
returned a fumble 93 yards for a score, leading the Rams to a 28-21 victory over Tampa Bay last week.
Matchup to watch: Madison against Holt, who had six catches for 124 yards in the Monday win over Tampa Bay.
Series: Miami leads, 7-2.
Next week: St. Louis has its bye Miami visits
New York Jets
on November 1
