GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- The
Green Bay Packers
are 0-3 at Lambeau Field for the first time since 1988. The
Dallas Cowboys
have lost back-to-back games for only the second time under coach Bill Parcells.
The tradition-rich NFC teams meet Sunday for the first time in five years.
Three-time Most Valuable Player
Brett Favre
is just 1-8 in his career against Dallas, including playoffs, with the win here in 1997, 45-17. Of course, Favre beat Parcells in Super Bowl XXXI, leading the Packers to a 35-21 win over the
New England Patriots
.
Now the situation is different for both. The Packers trail Minnesota (4-1) in the NFC North and the Cowboys are in third in the NFC East behind Philadelphia (5-0) and the
New York Giants
(4-1).
"We're still in a big hole, no doubt about it," Favre said. "We still have a long ways to go."
After an embarrasing 48-27 loss to Tennessee on October 11, the Packers rebounded with a 38-10 win at Detroit last week. Favre threw for 257 yards and two touchdowns, extending his streak with at least a TD pass to 31 games, passing
Dan Marino
and trailing only Johnny Unitas' record run of 47 straight.
The Cowboys lost back-to-back home games to the
New York Giants
and Pittsburgh.
Parcells made a deal before the trade deadline, shipping
Antonio Bryant
to the
Cleveland Browns
for
Quincy Morgan
in a swap of receivers.
Even though he had played well in five games this season, Bryant's days with the Cowboys may have been numbered since he threw a sweaty jersey in Parcells' face during training camp.
Bryant later apologized to Parcells and returned to the team and was the third receiver behind
Keyshawn Johnson
and
Terry Glenn
. He had 16 catches for 266 yards.
Morgan, who is from Garland, Texas, had just nine catches for 144 yards but led the Browns with three TD receptions.
Selected in the second round in 2001, Morgan has 133 receptions for 2,056 yards and 15 touchdowns in 54 career games. Morgan enjoyed his best season in 2002, catching 56 passes for 964 yards and seven touchdowns.
With Dallas, Morgan will fill Bryant's previous role and play in three-receiver sets with Johnson and Glenn.
