NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Steve McNair usually saves his best for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Using his arms and legs, McNair passed for 241 yards, ran for 74 and figured in all four touchdowns for the Tennessee Titans in a 28-24 victory over AFC Central rival Jacksonville. McNair scored on a one-yard run with 44 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give Tennessee (3-4) the much-needed victory. "We came out and made some good plays in all phases of the game," McNair said. "The offensive line played well, blocking and opening up holes in the running game and the receivers stepped up and made plays today." Frank Moreau's four-yard run with 3:05 remaining had given Jacksonville (2-5) a 24-21 lead. "I felt that the touchdown at the end of the game (with 3:05 left) would have been enough for us to win the game," Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin said. But that left plenty of time for McNair to engineer a 10-play, 59-yard drive which featured a pair of clutch third-down completions to tight end Frank Wycheck. "Nobody gave up, nobody panicked, we just kept playing, and as you can tell, we were not satisfied with kicking a field goal," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. "Steve made all the plays. He would not be denied today." McNair, who completed 27-of-34 passes, hit Kevin Dyson with a 20-yard touchdown in the first quarter and found Derrick Mason with a five-yard score in the fourth quarter. He also scored on a five-yard run in the third quarter. But scorching the Jaguars is nothing new for McNair, who has passed for 994 yards and nine touchdowns in his last four games against them. Since beating Tennessee, 13-6 on September 23, Jacksonville has lost five straight. Of course, McNair did not play in that game due to a shoulder injury. "In the last two games, we have been in position to win the football game and we have not done it, for whatever reason," said Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell, referring to an 18-17 loss at Baltimore on October 28. "It is difficult to take because there is effort. I think there is a lot of emotion out there. We're just coming up short." Brunell completed 21-of-32 passes for 261 yards and a touchdown with an interception. Jimmy Smith had seven catches for 120 yards. Tennessee's Eddie George, who was listed as questionable with knee and ankle problems, rushed for 70 yards on 22 carries. "We need to use this game to propel us to the end of the season," George said. Defensive end Jevon Kearse had three sacks for Tennessee, matching his total in the first six games of the season. Tennessee struck first when McNair hit Dyson with a 20-yard touchdown with 6:15 left in the first quarter, capping a six-play, 58-yard drive which featured a 22-yard catch by Dyson. But Jacksonville dominated the second quarter, scoring 17 points on a one-yard run by Stacey Mack, a three-yard TD pass from Brunell to tight end Kyle Brady and a 38-yard field goal by Mike Hollis. On their first possession of the second half, the Titans marched 77 yards in 12 plays and McNair capped it with a five-yard scoring run. McNair orchestrated another touchdown on Tennessee's second possession of the half, capping a 10-play, 80-yard drive with a five-yard pass to Mason 53 seconds into the fourth quarter. McNair broke off a 16-yard run to the 10 before the touchdown. "The inability to stop the Titans offense in the second half is why we lost," Coughlin said. "We're not playing well in the second half right now."
