A third-year cornerback out of Rutgers, Stephens intercepted rookie Brandon Doman at the San Francisco 12. Tynes provided the winning points on the next play from scrimmage.

Backup Jonathan Quinn tossed a five-yard TD pass to Josh Roth in the third quarter for Kansas City.

Jeff Garcia connected with Terrell Owens on a 71-yard scoring strike in the opening quarter for the 49ers, who fell to 0-2 in the preseason. Garcia finished 6-of-8 for 118 yards.

The 49ers also got five-yard TD pass from Tim Rattay to Cedrick Wilson in the third quarter. Rattay was 10-of-19 for 132 yards and two interceptions.
