SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Rod Phillips rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown, leading the Seattle Seahawks to a 17-14 exhibition victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. A member of the Seahawks' practice squad as a rookie last season, Phillips helped himself as he tries to make the club's final roster. He carried 19 times and his short run early in the fourth quarter gave the Seahawks a 17-7 lead. Embattled Seahawks starter Matt Hasselbeck completed 8-of-13 passes for 74 yards, including an eight-yard TD pass to Darrell Jackson in the second quarter. Tight end Jerramy Stevens, Seattle's first-round draft pick, had four catches for 33 yards. The Seahawks have dropped two of three preseason games. Backup Derrick Blaylock scored on a three-yard run in the third quarter and Todd Collins tossed a three-yard TD pass to Ryan Collins in the fourth for Kansas City (2-1). |
