MIAMI (Ticker) -- Ray Lucas threw for 102 yards and a touchdown as the Miami Dolphins held off the Chicago Bears, 24-22, in the preseason finale for both teams. Lucas was sharp, hitting on 11-of-17 passes, including a nine-yard TD toss to James McKnight that gave Miami a 17-7 second-quarter advantage. Miami starter Jay Fiedler completed 2-of-5 passes for 31 yards in his only series, which ended with Olindo Mare's 34-yard field goal. Travis Minor and Obafemi Ayanbadejo rushed for scores of 15 and eight yards, respectively, for the Dolphins. Chicago starter Jim Miller made his one pass attempt count, hitting a wide open Dez White for an 80-yard score. Miller left with a mildly sprained right ankle which is not believed to be serious. Rookie Adrian Peterson ran for a two-yard touchdown and Eric McCoo plunged in from a yard out for Chicago. The Dolphins open the regular season at home against the Detroit Lions on September 8. Chicago opens the same day at home against Minnesota. |
